Methodology
A community-based approach to reach high-risk, undiagnosed positive men in Ekurhuleni District, Gauteng Province through distribution of HIVST and provision of assisted linkage to care by community health workers was conducted. Community health workers provided men who accepted HIVST with either SMS-based mHealth follow-up or personalized support to encourage confirmatory testing and linkage to care for men testing HIV-positive. This model was evaluated upon the number and characteristics of men accepting (and not accepting) HIVST and receiving SMS versus personalized support for linkage to care. Study period: April 2018 - March 2019.
